The Angel Ludlow

The Angel Ludlow is set in one of the towns most historic building near the top of Broad Street. Run by the same family who own the excellent Chichetti’s a few doors down, the Angel Ludlow serves fine wine, cheeses and Spanish tapas as well as champagne and cocktails. The building was once a coaching inn offering rooms and stabling for wealthy travellers. A plaque outside the restaurant proudly proclaims the journey to London was made in a record 27 hours! Of course now the journey to London can be done in nearly half that time. Nelson and his mistress Emma Hamilton stayed in the hotel after the victory at ┬áthe battle of the Nile, and waved from the crowds from the beautiful round bay windows that overlook Broad Street.

Of course the reason people visit today is for the fantastic food and drink. Specialities include Patatas Bravas, Burrata, Albondigas and Iberico Pork Paella. They have an extensive wine list and a sommelier on hand to help you with the selection.
