Broad Bean Ludlow is a delicatessen at the top of Broad Street (see what they did there?) just a short hop from the Buttercross. The shop is packed to the rafters with produce from staples such as flour and tea, free range eggs, canned food, condiments wine, beer, bread, pasta, biscuits and a whole lot more. The deli counter is stuffed with high quality produce from the local area and beyond. Take away coffees are also available from the counter. If you want to shop plastic free the Broad Bean Ludlow is a great place to start as they have a good selection of loose produce such as oats, dry beans and pulses, flour, dried fruit seeds, rice as well as a comprehensive selection of teas and coffees from around the world. The Broad Bean won the prestigious ‘Shop of the Year’ Award from the Guild of Fine food in 2018.

The Black Bough Ludlow is a great quirky gift shop tucked away on Market Street next to the Chang Thai restaurant. The shop sells a range of items with a focus on quality and design. The products range from homewares to games and toys to books and kitchen ware. They also specialise in vintage and new watches.

DM Walls Butchers, Ludlow is probably the towns most well known butchers. The family run shop was opened in 1952, and there is a second shop in Craven Arms. It is the home of the renowned ‘Ludlow Sausage’, which are prepared with a secret recipe passed on down the generations. Other produce includes rare breed cattle, free range poultry, local breed pigs including wild boar crosses, and a range of game meets including venison, pheasants and partridge.
There are a number of places in Ludlow for antiques, but 55 Mill Street, Ludlow, is a 3 storey Georgian townhouse just off the Castle Square, is where we’ll usually head for our retro/vintage kicks. It is filled to the rafters with retro objects, collectables, vintage clothes and antiques. It is run by a collection of traders, and each room has it’s own particular vibe. This is the place to go in Ludlow for an eclectic range of vintage and antique furniture, clothes, books, paintings, prints and bric a brac.
Harp Lane Deli is one of Ludlow’s top delicatessens, sourcing tasty products from local producers or further afield. Situated on the Castle Square overlooking the market they specialise in British and Continental artisan cheeses and freshly roasted, sustainably sourced coffee.
There are a few chairs inside to drink a coffee and have a pastel de natas or sandwich, as well as a table outside and a private dining room seating 8 available to hire. Alternatively get a takeaway drink for while you wander through the market in the square.
Bodenhams Ludlow is a charming department store situated in a 600 year old half timbered building situated at the top of Broad Street and opposite the Buttercross.
