Walking on the Long Mynd

Ludlow and the Shropshire Hills AONB

It’s no accident that Ludlow regularly features in the ranks of Englands finest market towns – and one which John Betjeman declared to be ‘probably the loveliest town in England’. The town centre is a treasure trove of Medieval and Georgian architecture, containing over 500 listed buildings, including some the finest half timbered Tudor townhouses in the country. The focal point to all these historical riches is the imposing Norman castle which was the home of the ill fated Prince Arthur and his wife Catherine of Aragon before his untimely death in 1502. Historically Ludlow sits in the centre of the Welsh Marches, an important power base for Normans and subsequent dynasties, and an area steeped in history and legend.

Sutton Court Farm is an ideal base to explore this fascinating and beautiful town, and is also situated in the Shropshire Hills AONB (Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty) which has it’s own myriad of attractive landscapes, bewitching towns and villages, historical buildings and monuments and fun filled activities.
